Offering common sense solutions for judicial discipline

Center for Judicial Accountability

The Cofounder of the Center, Elena Sassower, took it upon herself to go to Washington to offer testimony about a corrupt judge. She patiently waited through a Senate confirmation meeting waiting to give public input. None was asked for. So - just after the meeting was gaveled adjourned - she asked to testify about a judge. The cops swooped in (actually, had been called in advance) and arrested her for the bogus charge of "Disruption of Congress." They threw the book at her; the fix was in; and she served a full six months in jail for a first time misdemeanor charge. (Contrast this to Martha Stewart who served only five months for a felony conviction. Usually a first time offender is simply fined for a trivial matter like this, but the judge wanted Elena to waive her Constitutional right to redress her government - for three years! Also, a bunch of protesters at a similar Senate Committee meeting who unfurled a banner and chanted during Defense Secretary Rumsfeld's testimony. Although these people were clearly disrupting a meeting in progress and Capitol Police were called, no one was arrested. Go figure.

One of our members filed a complaint of judicial misconduct against the judge on Elena's behalf. We'll post the comforting response soon.
